You thought it would be that easy, right?
Typing a URL you half-remembered from somewhere, or clicking on something in a corner of the screen that had no business being clickable — either way, well played. You found a page. It is, unfortunately, not the page. Sit with that for a second.
This one exists specifically for people like you: curious enough to go looking, but not quite patient enough to just let the thing on the homepage do what it does on its own. That's a very specific kind of person. If you're reading this, it's probably you. No judgment. Some judgment.
There is a real version of this page. It exists. This is not it, and no amount of scrolling is going to change that.
Since you've clearly put in some effort, here's what you get instead of an answer: three things that are true, and approximately zero things that are useful.
- The real one doesn't have a URL. It never did — you're looking at proof of that right now.
- There's a little counter in the footer that quietly keeps track of something. It is not decoration.
- Nothing here rewards cleverness. It rewards showing up and not giving up, which is a much less interesting story to tell people afterward.
Some reading for the trouble. Free, unlike whatever you were hoping to find here:
"Patience, n. A minor form of despair, disguised as a virtue."
— Ambrose Bierce, The Devil's Dictionary
"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better."
— Samuel Beckett, Worstward Ho
"Confine yourself to the present."
— Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
"In the fight between you and the world, back the world."
— Franz Kafka, The Zürau Aphorisms
"Quoth the Raven, 'Nevermore.'"
— Edgar Allan Poe, The Raven
"So it goes."
— Kurt Vonnegut, Slaughterhouse-Five
Go on, then. The real thing — if it exists, which it does — is waiting somewhere you weren't looking.
